How does an engagement with CTC typically start?

Most engagements start with a platform audit. Before we write a line of code, we need to understand what you’ve got, where the friction is, and what’s actually blocking your team from moving faster. From there we scope the work together — whether that’s a migration, an integration, or stabilizing something that’s already live.

What does “embedded partnership” actually look like day to day

It means we work inside your team’s tools, processes, and cadences, not alongside them. We’re in your Jira, your Slack, your standups. We don’t hand off deliverables from a distance. The goal is that your team barely notices the seam between CTC and internal engineering.

What happens when a project goes sideways, how do you handle it?

We surface problems early and directly, not in a retrospective after the damage is done. If scope shifts, if something in the existing environment is worse than expected, or if a decision needs to be revisited, we bring it to you with context and options. We’ve been in enough complex environments to know that surprises are part of the work. How you handle them is what actually defines the partnership.

How do you work alongside our existing engineering team?

We treat your internal engineers as partners, not passengers. We’re not here to take over, we’re here to extend capacity and fill specific gaps, whether that’s Magnolia expertise, integration work, or platform architecture.

We actively work to transfer knowledge as we go so your team gets stronger over time, not more dependent on us.

How do you handle knowledge transfer so we’re not dependent on you forever?

Deliberately. We document as we build, we pair with your team on complex work, and we structure retainers so that the goal is always increasing your internal capability.

A client who understands their own platform is a client who can make better decisions with us (and eventually, without us for the parts they’ve mastered).

What size organizations do you work with best?

Enterprise and upper mid-market — organizations large enough to have a real platform complexity problem, but where a small, senior team can still move fast and make an impact.

That usually means companies running multi-site or multi-brand digital ecosystems with internal engineering teams who need a specialist partner, not a generalist agency.

What does a long-term retainer relationship look like vs. a project engagement?

A project is scoped, delivered, and done. A retainer is a standing arrangement where we’re part of your platform operations — handling ongoing development, performance monitoring, platform upgrades, and the kind of work that never really ends when you’re running a live digital ecosystem.

Most of our best client relationships started as projects and converted to retainers once the team saw the value of having us on call.

How do you stay current with Magnolia’s platform roadmap?

We maintain a close working relationship with the Magnolia team and stay active in the partner ecosystem. We’re in the platform daily across multiple client environments, which means we see real-world behavior across versions faster than most partners. When Magnolia ships something new, we’re testing it in practice, not just reading the release notes.
